Talker above in 2006 and now, in 2007 below.....what a snoozer!!!

Be prepared in case your dane bloats! The photo below is an actual x-ray of Talker's  "bloated" stomach taken at the emergency clinic in Daytona Beach, FL.  It was poor judgement on our part, we fed him too soon after a brief run around the yard and a combination of the heat (94 degrees); at least that's what we think.  The vet said it was a classic case of frothy bloat!  Talker was let out after he ate and started to eat grass and throw up but he couldn't;  we didn't think too much about it at the time.  We all see our dogs eat grass and throw it up sometimes.  We took him inside, ate supper; still he didn't seem right.  He was restless and panting and really not himself.  I found him in his crate, which is out of character, and then I saw his belly which looked like he had swallowed a beach ball.  I rushed him to the ER Vet and they were able to tube him.  They kept him overnight and he recovered.  About a month after the bloat; we had his stomach tacked.  The following link can provide you a lot of important information concerning bloat.
